Beschreibung
In his first life, Enric Soler was a well-known Spanish sommelier in Barcelona. So he knew a lot about wine when he inherited a vineyard of around 1.5 hectares from his late grandfather in 2004. It was not just any vineyard, but the one with perhaps the oldest Xarel -lo vines in the Penedès, planted in 1945. The vineyard is hidden between two hills in Sabanell. Its name, Taus, also led to Enric Soler’s first wine, Vinya dels Taus, which became probably the best-known single-varietal Xarel.lo. At that time, hardly anyone had vinified the grape variety as a single varietal; it was almost always reserved for Cava. In the meantime, Enric and his wife Mercé have planted a second parcel of Sélection Massale des Taus right next to the vineyard and have also grafted a parcel of Xarel-lo onto old roots at an altitude of 500 metres in the Alto Penedès, where otherwise there is only Parellada.
