Product description for Vino Lauria Solerte Macerato IGT Terre Siciliane 2022 (bio)Today, VinoLauria is based on generations of experience, combining family tradition with modern oenology. Located in the heart of Sicily, a good 65 km southwest of Palermo, the winery is part of the Trapani Municipal Consortium. The family business was founded by Vito’s grandfather in 1958, but was closed in 1993 due to economic difficulties. Deeply rooted in his homeland, Vito Lauria nurtured the desire to revive the winery and carry his family’s winemaking heritage into the future. Familiar with his grandfather’s working methods from an early age, he decided to study viticulture and oenology. The production of a dry Zibibbo is one of the latest additions to the winery. Grown in the calcareous soils around Salemi, the grapes yield a dry, aromatic, floral wine. Harvested in early September, the Solerte Zibibbo Macerato has undergone an extended maceration period and is also fermented in steel.
Colour
Orange with amber reflections and slight cloudiness.
Nose
The 2022 Solerte Macerato from VinoLauria is expressive and present on the nose. The Zibbibo, as Moscato is called colloquially in Sicily, practically jumps out of the glass. The extended aging on the skins complements the lively dance with stimulating notes of slightly over-ripened Darjeeling and a hint of orange blossom. Beneath this lie fruity notes of dried apple and orange peel, as well as roasted hazelnuts. An extremely exciting interpretation of the variety.
Palate
On the first sip, the polished tannins immediately take over and guide the flow of this highly aromatic, yet extremely restrained wine in the right direction. Contoured by its fine phenolics, it oscillates on the palate between extract-rich, viscous fruit, saline minerality, and tart tannins, all fueled by the fully ripe yet lively acidity. A lively drink for a good mood or with complex Sicilian fare.
