Description
Roland Velich and his Moric winery have written winegrowing history. It only began in 2001 with the first vintage of Lutzmannsburg Alte Reben Blaufränkisch. Since then, not least thanks to this wine, a style of Blaufränkisch has established itself that can already be seen in the shape of the bottle. The name Moric stands for wines made from Blaufränkisch, which are stylistically located between great Burgundians, Nebbiolo from Piedmont, and Syrah from the Northern Rhône, yet are completely independent and have just as much potential. The greatness of Velich’s wines, however, begins with the simple Blaufränkisch and with the white as well as the red house brand. These wines exemplify Velich’s claim that wines should be open-minded, inviting, fresh, and juicy, complex and easy to drink at the same time. In addition to his own ideas, he also promotes talented winemakers from neighbouring Hungary with his Hidden Treasure Project.
