The Vazart-Coquart Brut Réserve Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru comes from an eleven-hectare Grand Cru vineyard in Chouilly. The Chardonnay vines there average 45 years old. The vines are deeply rooted in belemnite chalk. The winery was in the process of converting to sustainable and organic viticulture. The first certified organic harvest took place in 2020. This cuvée uses 67% of the 2021 harvest, as well as 33% from a perpetual reserve started in 1982, of which 40% is removed and replenished each year. The base wine was fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine was bottled in May 2022 and disgorged in July 2024 with a dosage of 4.5 grams.

Nose

The Brut Réserve Grand Cru is a classic Blanc de Blancs from the Côte de Blancs. It is a lively, fresh, and pleasantly fruity Champagne with notes of limestone and chalk, herbs and a touch of hay, lemons, a touch of mandarin orange, and a hint of warm brioche with lemon curd and butter.

Palate

On the palate, the non-vintage appears powerful and agile with a present perlage, a balancing sweetness from 4.5 grams of dosage, and matching tart notes. The champagne is juicy, with white-fleshed fruit and hints of lemon and mandarin orange, as well as, once again this year, a distinct note of almond biscuit. A drinkable, uncomplicated Blanc de Blancs.
