Wine Information

This organically certified red wine is made from a single grape variety, Garnacha Tinta (Grenache). The Trossos del Priorat winery and its vineyards, with the famous slate soils of the Priorat, are located in the municipality of Gratallops, in the somewhat warmer part of the wine-growing region. L’Estaca is a typical juicy, soft, and round Garnacha from the Mediterranean. The wine matured for 12 months in French barriques.

L’Estaca has distinct notes of ripe fruits such as cherries, plums, and blackberries, as well as herbal, spicy, and balsamic hints. The bouquet is relatively complex and has a warm, Mediterranean character, underpinned by earthy minerality.

Palate

On the palate, this red wine reflects the traditional Priorat style, in which full-bodiedness and alcoholic warmth play an important role. Ripe fruit is accompanied by a certain peppery spice. The wine has silky tannins, feels smooth, and the slightly sweet finish is of good length. Despite the Mediterranean flavours on the palate, there is also sufficient acidity to give the wine freshness and backbone.
