Product description for Tenuta di Castellaro Bianco Pomice IGP 2022 (bio)Tenuta di Castellaro is located on a plateau on Lipari, the largest Aeolian island north of Sicily. The temperate, windy climate and the influence of the sea characterize the microclimate of the Piana di Castellaro, which benefits from the strong temperature amplitudes between day and night. The volcanic soils are rich in minerals such as phosphorus, potassium, iron, magnesium, and calcium and give the wines their distinctive texture, structure, and longevity. The vines are planted in single-stake (Albarello) vineyards with a 7,000-capacity vine density. The Bianco Pomice is a blend of 60% Malvasia delle Lipari and 40% Carricante. The Malvasia was hand-harvested in steel, and the Carricante in used barrels (third and fourth fillings), fermented, and aged on the lees for six months.
