Wine Information

In the scenic valley of the Lirac appellation, the 7 hectares of Lorentine are planted with Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah in almost equal parts. The soil is calcareous, but successive periods of erosion have deposited red clay, gravel, sand, and cobblestones. After the takeover in 2003, it took several years of careful conversion before the terroir began to be reflected in the wines. This has long since been the case. As in all of the family’s vineyards, the vineyards are cultivated organically and biodynamically and harvested by hand. The selected grapes are destemmed and ferment with their own yeasts under temperature control. The wine is aged in concrete tanks and in foudres.

Colour

Dense black-red with violet reflections.

Nose

The aroma of the 2020 La Lorentine from Lirac reveals sweet berry fruit, plum jam, blueberries, and fine dark chocolate. A variety of herbs, such as tarragon, wild mint, notes of lavender, roses, and a hint of fennel and anise, contribute freshness and vibrancy. An incredibly complex and multifaceted wine with plenty of excitement.

Palate

It is always fascinating how harmonious and fresh wines present themselves with excitement and dynamism, even despite their higher alcohol content. Numbers are simply smoke and mirrors; you have to try such wonderful wines. A wine that seems to float over the tongue, simply wonderful with a cuisine that shines with aroma and concentration.
