Description
The Valerio family in Dicastillo has more than 200 years of experience in working with vines and olives, soil, and vinification. However, the experience probably goes back much longer, as it is known that the family has been in Navarre since the 14th century. It is Emilio who, two and a half decades ago, dared to set out to bottle and market his wines himself. At his side for many years was winemaker Olivier Rivière. Since 2015, it has been Jean-François Herbrard from Quinta de la Quietud in Toro. Of course, it’s no coincidence that both oenologists are French, because viticulture in Navarre with its grape varieties is historically French. Emilio adds biodynamic and Benedictine influences, as he says himself. Today, the winery comprises 40 hectares of vineyards, all certified organic since 2002, spread over 70 different plots.
