Wine Information
The Grand Cru “Les Bressandes” vineyard lies exactly in the middle of the Corton hill below the Clos du Roi and Les Renardes. Together with the Clos du Roi, it is considered the best Grand Cru vineyard on the Corton hill. The 1.12 hectares are divided into three plots, and the soil is characterized by Bajocian and Oxford limestone with pebbles, clay, and a high iron content. The Corton-Bressandes comes from vines that are on average 35 years old. The wine was fermented spontaneously in a wooden cuvée using 100% whole grapes, then transferred by gravity into barriques and tonneaux with a small proportion of new wood. This was followed by around 14 months of aging without further movement. Bottling took place, with minimal sulphur added, mostly directly from the barrel.
Colour
slightly transparent garnet red
Nose
The 2019 Corton-Bressandes is in line with the last great vintages. Even in its aromas, the wine strikes a wonderful balance between power and lightness, finesse and earthiness. It opens with a concentrated and complex blend of violet flowers, rose petals, concentrated notes of cherries and raspberries, cranberries and plums, with hints of moss, undergrowth, foliage and cool limestone, all around a sweet core.
Palate
On the palate, the Grand Cru presents itself as fascinatingly smooth and charming. It possesses a power that already flashes through, but largely still slumbers in the depths of the wine. Upfront, it offers a very fine texture and a meaty bite with firm acidity. In the background, however, the tart and herbal notes of the black horse, bay leaves, undergrowth, tobacco, and bitter chocolate become increasingly evident, blending with the fruit to create a very complex finish that leaves you wanting more.
