Wine Information

The Brunello di Montalcino comes from the vineyards of Podere Brizio, a few kilometers southwest of Montalcino. The vineyards are located on marl and limestone, as well as sandy and clay soils of maritime origin. The Brunello is 100% Sangiovese Grosso, certified organic since 2015. Fermentation was spontaneous. The wine was aged for 38 months in 5.4 hl foudres made of Slavonian oak. This was followed by bottle aging.

Nose

The Podere Brizio Brunello di Montalcino 2017 displays a remarkable tension and simultaneous transparency in its aroma. It smells of dried cherries and sour cherries, sloes, blond tobacco, dry undergrowth, and grilled herbs. Added to this are floral notes of dried violet flowers and a stony component.

Palate

On the palate, the Brunello appears taut with a lively acidity structure and fine tannins. At the same time, the wine displays a charming creaminess in texture. The red fruit is bright, crisp and juicy, the Brunello is polished and precise throughout, and slightly salty on the finish, which boasts good length. The wood thankfully holds back very elegantly here, operating somewhat in the background. A remarkably balanced Brunello.
