The almost seventy-year-old Garnacha Blanca vines are located in a vineyard at an altitude of 325 meters in Montsant. A few Macabeo vines were also planted here and there. The subsoil of this single vineyard, Vino Parcellaires, contains sand and a chalky base. The planting density is 2,000 vines per hectare. The grapes were harvested in the last week of August 2017. Fermentation takes place in large French oak fermentation vats. The wine is then aged on the lees for ten months in 500-liter barrels.

Colour

Bright straw yellow with delicate hints of gold.

Nose

The nose invites you to briefly listen within and creates a moment of silence. Then you feel your way forward, almost reverently. Maturity has certainly arrived, but it suits the wine well. It has a nutty aroma and is reminiscent of brioche spread with salted butter, which was of course toasted beforehand. Ripe apple, intense peach, and cold smoke are characteristic of it. It is long-lasting. It is ethereal and refreshing. Sage and menthol make an appearance.

Palate

And from the very first sip, it underlines these impressions. It builds up lushly and powerfully. Its chalky, precise character simultaneously ensures moderation and elegance. This is enormously stimulating. It is underpinned by plenty of melting, with earthy and mineral notes as a contrast. Hay and dried herbs characterize the aromas. The fruit emerges. Roasted almonds and salt dough are clearly recognizable in the finish. Its cautious maturity also fits perfectly with these roasted aromas. This initial maturity also creates numerous umami moments on the palate.
