Wine Information

This Riesling comes from the Maustal vineyard, a four-hectare vineyard located south of Sulzfeld am Main, facing south and southeast. The steep slope is characterized by barren and skeletal Upper Muschelkalk. The vines were planted 36 to 42 years ago. As always at the Zehnthof Luckert winery, the grapes are harvested and destemmed by hand, allowed a somewhat longer maceration period, and fermented spontaneously. Luckert’s wines are matured in classic double-barreled Spessart oak barrels.

Nose

The Maustal Riesling is a fine, lively, fragrant, and absolutely precise Riesling with a very fine, subtle aroma of blossoms, citrus fruits, a touch of dark stone, tart herbs, and a subtle yellow fruit background.

Palate

On the palate, this wine is rich in finesse, crystalline in acidity, distinctly mineral, pure and juicy with ethereal notes, light salt, light phenolics, a silky texture, dark stoniness, and a wonderful length. I don’t know where greater Rieslings could be produced in Franconia.
