Information

The Beaune comes from village vineyards in Beaune, from 30-year-old vines located at 220 to 250 meters. After hand-harvesting, partial destemming and spontaneous fermentation took place in stainless steel vats, followed by a mixture of pigeage and remontage, i.e., punching down and overflowing of the pomace cap. Malolactic fermentation took place spontaneously in the barrels. Aging lasted for ten to twelve months in a mixture of 228-, 350-, and 500-liter barriques, as well as in tonneaux, of which a maximum of 10% are replaced annually. The wine was tasted daily, and the barrels were racked when Frédéric Buisson deemed it appropriate. It was fined with bentonite and filtered very coarsely. Sulfurization only took place during bottling, with a maximum of 40 to 50 mg/l total sulfite.

Slightly transparent purple-red

Nose

The Beaune 2021 initially smells primarily of undergrowth with plenty of dry branches and leaves. Then you become aware of the fruit, which leans more towards the dark berry side, offering notes of black cherries, a few sour cherries, and cherry stones, as well as a light hint of cherry cream on a dark biscuit base.

Palate

On the palate, the Pinot Noir is silkier than expected, and it is truly a delight to let it glide over the tongue, because behind the silkiness lies more tannin and structure than you initially expect. It is a pleasantly firm wine from Beaune that offers power and substance, is fleshy, juicy and pleasantly acidic, and overall appears pure and straightforward.
