Wine Information

The Cabernet Franc vines are 45 to 55 years old. The vines grow in loamy, silty soil on sandstone, and in red flint on tuffeau.

Vineyard Information

The yield is 40 hl/ha. The grapes were harvested by hand in 12-kilo crates. They were destemmed and fermented for 30 days with only occasional pumping over. Aging then took place on the fine lees for 12 months, followed by ageing in Burgundian pièces aged for five to seven years. The cuvée then matured for a further six months in individual barrels.

Rich purple with violet reflections

Nose

The typical aroma of Cabernet Franc with dark fruit of blackberry, cassis, and green bell pepper is evident in its purest form in the 2020 Cabernet Franc Clau de Nell. A powerful yet elegant wine with a wonderful juiciness that is already evident on the nose. Particularly striking is its cool, herbal impression that reflects a depth that is second to none.

Palate

A dark, fruity, juicy wine also reveals itself on the tongue. With polished tannins and invigorating acidity, it smooths its way across the palate and lingers beautifully in the long finish. Once again, a cool, honest wine characterized by graphite that conveys pure drinking pleasure and harmonizes wonderfully with intensive cuisine. Serve chilled at 16°C from the carafe in a large glass.
