Wine Information

Les Picasses is a cuvée of clayey limestone on yellow limestone, which, as the name suggests, comes from the famous Picasses vineyard in the municipality of Beaumont-en-Véron. Three-quarters of the vines on the 1.8 hectares are 20 years old, while the other quarter is around 84 years old. Fermentation takes place in cement vats, followed by malolactic fermentation in barrels. This is followed by aging for twelve months in oak barrels, one-third new, second-use, and third-use. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered with a low sulphur content.

Nose

The 2021 Chinon Les Picasses offers great finesse and sensuality, maturity and coolness at the same time. Here, there are sweet and sour cherries, cassis, and a touch of elderberry combined with very subtle wood, herbs, a cool stone note, and a few blackcurrant leaves.

Palate

On the palate, the Cabernet Franc is silky and round in texture, the dark fruit sensual, juicy, mouth-filling, and ripe. It is supported by a touch of firm dark chocolate and licorice. There are also piquant, ripe green notes of blackcurrant leaves and mint. The Chinon has a good length with a lingering, ripe acidity.
