Info

The Loureiro vines are located in the Lima sub-region within the DOC Vinho Verde. The harvest took place from September 16th to 23rd. All vineyards are south-facing. The must was pressed and natural sedimentation took place in steel tanks. Cooled fermentation took place at 16-18°C. The wine then aged for two months on the fine lees before being filtered and bottled. The total sulphur content is stated as 45mg/l.

Colour

Light straw yellow with light reflections.

Nose

The 2022 Loureiro from Aphros combines maritime freshness with summer fruit on the nose. Orange and grapefruit flow from the glass. Candied orange zest and tangerine peel immediately complement this impression. Anise, fennel, and artichoke build up in the second row. Lemon and kaffir lime become very faintly recognizable. Sage, mint, and tarragon round it out in a spicy, ethereal way. It cannot deny its maritime climate.

Palate

On the palate, it appears lean, cool, and invigorating. The delicate 11% alcohol by volume suits it perfectly. It is delicate yet light and fruity. It now displays significantly more facets, ranging from mirabelle plum to grapefruit to lemon. It is stony and refreshingly cool. Its feel is quite concentrated and brimming with lightness. The vegetal notes recede into the background, and its ethereal spiciness only subtly emerges in the finish.
