Wine Information

Olivier Humbrecht: This wine comes from the alluvial and gravelly soils adjacent to the winery. They are very well-drained and enjoy a warm and precocious climate. These vineyards produce a very expressive and aromatic wine every vintage and, due to their precocity, are the first to be harvested on the winery each year.

Vineyard Information

This is probably the vineyard where we need to monitor ripeness the most to avoid excessive abundance. Once the harvest has begun, it is easier to determine the potential ripeness, but there is always a degree of uncertainty with the first bunches! In 2021, the grapes affected by powdery mildew dried out and had no impact on quality, but unfortunately the harvest was low.

Colour

Brilliant golden yellow with silvery reflections.

Nose

The 2021 Pinot Gris Roche Roulée opens with spicy, malty notes, hints of licorice and tree bark, accompanied by ripe apple, apricot, and orange. The aromas are juicy yet delicately interwoven, all framed by a distinctive minerality.

Palate

Upon reaching the tongue, it enchants with its delicate melting texture and stimulating acidity, followed by aromas of apple and apricot, as well as ripe pineapple. It glides over the tongue with a beautiful flow and a salty, delicately spicy note. Its elegance and subtle appearance make it a perfect accompaniment to food. Be sure to decant and enjoy from a larger glass, not too cold.
