Nose

The 2017 Terra de Cuques Negre from Terroir al Limit is a cuvée of 50% Carignan and 50% Grenache Noir from slate and clayey slate soils. Rich on the nose, it displays a warm character and deep, dark fruit aromas of black cherries, mulberries, and elderberries. Spicy with bay leaves, dried tomatoes, and black olives, the balsamic top note has a fruity undertone.

Palate

With a juicy attack, the dark fruit floats like a drone above the distinctive licorella slate note of the Priorat. Rich in extract, it is quickly accelerated by the lively acidity and picks up speed. The ripe, velvety tannins contribute a refreshingly tart note and combine juice and finesse in a delicate blend. A Priorat in Burgundy garb without denying its homeland.
