Wine Information

The vineyard belonged to Vincent Rochette’s grandmother. It is located west of the village of Visan, at an altitude of 140 meters, in the heart of the garrigue. The alluvial terraces are over 80,000 years old; the soil is very dry and consists of more than 60% rock. The vines are surrounded by natural vegetation with countless herbs and plants.

Vineyard Information

The Syrah and Grenache grapes are pressed separately and vinified according to biodynamic principles, without the use of chemical aids and with minimal use of sulfur. After 6 months of aging in concrete vats, the wine is bottled very young in the spring to optimally preserve freshness and fruit.

Colour

Deep violet red, black at the core, distinct purple reflections towards the rim.

Nose

The 2022 Côtes du Rhône Village Visan presents itself with a very intense nose. Dark cherries, plenty of berries, cassis, elderberry pulp, and blueberries open the wine. Invigorating floral notes of lilac, ivy, lavender, and wild roses are complemented by licorice, tar, charcoal, and graphite. Even on the nose, this is an intense and extremely stimulating wine that practically invites tasting.

Palate

It presents itself with a smooth, rounded palate with plenty of charming fruit. Its tannin structure is fine-grained, the acidity pleasantly refreshing and invigorating, and a fine minerality and elegant coolness enhance the drinkability. The Mediterranean, southern French character makes it the perfect accompaniment to aromatic cuisine characterized by herbs and spices.
