Rémi Jobard is a recognized new schooler in Meursault. For around 30 years, he has used exclusively organic fertilization, and in 2008, he obtained organic certification. Jobard’s guiding principle is the calcareous soils of Meursault, which he seeks to bring out through careful aging. Instead of small 228-liter barriques, Jobard uses 600-liter Stockinger barrels. The wood is used not for its own sake, but for the slow oxygen exchange. This aging results in crystalline wines with profound minerality and a delicate texture. The Bourgogne Côte d’Or category is a recently introduced new appellation. It limits the production zone for these wines to the core of the Côte d’Or. The vineyards for this wine all come from sites bordering Meursault, two of which are located directly below the 1er Cru Charmes.

Colour

Medium-bodied straw yellow with green reflections.

Nose

The 2022 Bourgogne Côte d’Or blanc Vieilles Vignes from Rémi Jobard exhibits a green-yellow nose. Delicately citrusy, it is reminiscent of lemon oil, lemon blossoms, and lemon balm, along with Granny Smith fruit (more the peel than the flesh), and a hint of lime zest. The overall impression is one of crystalline clarity and transparency.

Palate

Bell-clear and polished on the palate, with vibrant acidity and almost powdery fine phenolics that lend it additional pace on the palate. Despite all its finesse and crystalline nature, the power of the 2022 vintage is evident. Powerful with high intensity and profound bass, it pulsates with maximum vibration into a salty, cool finish.
