Wine Information

This red wine comes from the DO Toro and is made from 100% Tinta de Toro grapes, a regional Tempranillo clone. Due to the dry continental climate and high sun intensity in Toro, the grape produces smaller berries with thicker skins than, for example, in Rioja. The wines from Toro therefore tend to be more powerful and have a denser structure. The vines for the 2021 Corral de Campanas are between 20 and 25 years old. The wine is cultivated organically and without irrigation. Spontaneous fermentation took place in steel tanks in the cellar. The wine’s 12-month aging also took place 50% in barriques, 25% in foudres, and 25% in steel tanks.

The bouquet of the 2021 Corral de Campanas offers a perfect balance of primary and secondary aromas such as black cherry, coconut, vanilla, and mineral notes. Overall, the nose is expressive and fresh.

Palate

This red wine also displays great freshness on the palate. With its powerful body and 15% alcohol, it is not exactly shy, yet the alcohol is excellently integrated. The wine is carried by a beautiful fruitiness and a fabulous structure—with lively acidity and equally ample and finely knit tannins. The wine has a velvety texture and a grippy palate. It has a juicy finish and, despite its concentration, does not become broad, but is straightforward and shows a stimulating spiciness on the finish.
