Information about the wine

The Landgeflecht parcel is located in the lower part of the Doosberg and was planted in 1978. It is characterized by loess and clay soils over quartzite. This Landgeflecht is a monopoly site from which Peter Jakob Kühn produced his first wine in 2006. After being hand-picked, the whole grapes were pressed over several hours, the must fermented spontaneously, and the wine, without altering the natural composition of the must, aged on the full lees for 24 months in traditional 1,200-liter barrels and then further aged in the bottle.

Nose

The 2021 Landgeflecht encapsulates the Kühns’ philosophy. It is a Riesling with floating intensity, a wine that is both airy and complex. The aroma is reminiscent of a hint of smoke and herbs, of tobacco and cubeb pepper combined with mirabelle plums and peach, cider apple and quince. It is a wine full of life that nevertheless seems calm and serene.

Palate

This impression continues on the palate, where the land’s texture leaves the same calm and relaxed impression, even though the minerality vibrates and the energy pulsates. It is a wine with the resilience of a master practicing yoga who has found inner peace. The Riesling combines bright, floral and light-toned fruit aspects with a dark smoke that can only be found in quartzite soils. It has a fine phenolic grip, a silky texture, and impressive length.
