Info

This plot is home to 70-year-old Frappato vines. The previous owner chose a centrally located old tree to align the rows within the plot. The plot’s layout is unique. The vines here are located almost 200m above sea level. The soil contains red sand and plenty of tuff underneath. The 2022 harvest took place here in the last week of September. Fermentation takes place in cement tanks with natural yeasts. The must remains in contact with the must for a full 20 days – including during fermentation. The wines then age for 20 months in oval 20hl cement tanks.

Colour

Bright cherry red with light and radiant elements.

Nose

PT appears full of finesse and a quiet presence. Among the other two vineyards in this series, PT, in my opinion, has the greatest tension and depth. Fruit and spice are in harmony. Sour cherry and morello cherry with a hint of raspberry and not-so-perfectly ripe blackberries. The latter adds a slightly tart, green note. It offers many smooth, stony, and cool elements. Herbal aromas appear in the background. Branches and forest floor provide depth. Juniper, allspice, and pepper appear subtly. Rosemary, thyme, and pine groves still leave their mark. A slight spiciness develops over the course of the nose.

Palate

The PT has fine-grained, structured tannins. Its acidity builds slowly but meticulously. With a pleasant astringency, this challenges us. Straightforward and taut. It has an animating effect and stimulates salivation. If one were looking for great elegance, one would definitely prescribe a “cool climate” here. It stretches out, skeletal and sparse. The tannin structure provides the fruit with plenty of rough edges. The aftertaste reveals a delicate, spicy aroma. The aromas remain quiet and subtle, yet the ethereal nuances manage to leave a fresh and vibrant impression.
