Wine Information

The organically and biodynamically produced Muscat d’Alexandrie grapes from old vines produce a yield of only up to 18 hectoliters per hectare. After hand-harvesting, fermentation on the skins took place for 35 days. After pressing and malolactic fermentation, the wine matured for eleven months in 500-liter oak barrels before being bottled unfiltered and unsulfured.

Colour

Light copper with some cloudiness.

Nose

Muscat d’Alexandrie is used here – hence the name of the wine. This is easily recognizable in the nose, as it offers expansive aromas of roses and nutmeg, elderflower and grapefruit with peel, a hint of hops, salted lemon, and wet stone. This is an aromatic experience that will tempt you to drink.

Palate

The 2023 Cuvée Alexandria from Tom Lubbe is naturally completely dry on the palate, and an undeniable maceration provides tannins and extract. The lush, expansive aroma has developed into a more delicate aroma that combines with the extract, lively acidity, and energy to create something unique. The wine appears complex yet floating, precise and skillfully matured, but also has an earthy note, which provides a successful counterpoint to the expressive aroma of the Muscat. This is particularly successful in 2023, a top vintage from Matassa.
