Info

A blend of Syrah, planted in 1896 and 1902, 10% Viognier, and Serrine (synonym Durif), grown on dark mimatite with magnesium iron mica. Bottled unfiltered without the addition of sulfur, after 24 months of aging in small wooden barrels.

Colour

Dense black-red, almost colour-dense to the rim.

Nose

This wine is striking and intense on the nose. Sloe, blackcurrants, and elderberries combine with tar, dark tobacco, and charcoal. With some oxygenation, black bread, truffles, and ammonium chloride emerge, as does freshly brewed coffee. A spectacular Côte Rotie with plenty of power and depth, into which you can literally immerse yourself.

Palate

On the palate, the 2018 Côte Rotie “Coteaux de Basson” hits home, revealing its youth with invigorating acidity and a ripe, yet still youthful tannin structure. Its powerful, earthy, and distinctive character hints at its fantastic aging potential. This wine thrives on fruity and dark flavours in the preparation of its accompanying dishes. The classics of French cuisine are a perfect match!
