Product description for La Soufrandière Pouilly-Vinzelles Climat “Les Longeays” AOC 2022 (bio)
Wine Information
The Bret brothers own 0.54 hectares in the Climat Les Longeays in the Pouilly-Vinzelles appellation. The beautifully situated vineyard is located at an altitude of 210 meters, directly adjacent to Les Quarts, facing south-southeast. It boasts 38-year-old Chardonnay vines on partly ferrous clay and limestone soils from the Bajocian region (Jura). The wines produced there are long-lasting, balanced. Hand-harvested on August 27, 2022, whole-bunch pressing and spontaneous fermentation, followed by aging for 17 months, initially in pièces for 11 months and then in foudres with 100% malolactic fermentation. The total sulphur content is 32 mg/l, depending on the barrel. The pH is 3.15.
Colour
Intense, bright golden yellow
Nose
The 2022 Pouilly-Vinzelles Les Longeays is a Chardonnay full of energy, freshness, and vibrancy. Its aroma seems to vibrate with impatience. It smells of lemons, tangerines, and limes, of stone and lichen, of green and yellow plums.
Palate
On the palate, the Pouilly-Vinzelles is juicy and light-toned, with crisp, white-fleshed fruit and a variety of citrus fruits. Added to this is a touch of warm puff pastry, a fine tannin, and a brilliant, challenging, extremely lively, yet ripe acidity that builds tension all the way to the long, salty finish.

Vinous
Score: 93
The 2022 Pouilly-Vinzelles Climat Les Longeays has a complex bouquet demonstrating why it is currently being considered for Premier Cru status. It’s pretty mineral-driven. Wild mint and sea spray notes surface with time in the glass. The palate is nicely balanced with stem ginger on the entry. The 2022 shows fine weight and is tangy towards the finish. This wine feels powerful yet retains plenty of refinement. Excellent.
