Information

The Bourgogne Blanc comes primarily from unclassified plots at the top of the Saint-Romain hill, from vines around 40 years old. Another portion comes from friendly, also organically certified winegrowers from Pouilly-Fuissé. About half of the grapes were destemmed before pressing. The wine aged for ten to twelve months in a mixture of 228-, 350-, and 500-liter barriques and tonneaux, of which no more than 10% are replaced annually. WineGlobes and concrete eggs are also used. The wine was tasted daily, and the barrels were racked whenever Frédéric Buisson deemed it appropriate. It was fined with bentonite and filtered very coarsely. Sulfur was added only at bottling, with a maximum of 40 to 50 mg/l of total sulfite.

Quite intense straw yellow

Nose

This Bourgogne Blanc is a beautiful introduction to the Buisson portfolio. The wine offers aromas of white flowers, white-fleshed fruits with an emphasis on pears, a hint of pineapple, grapefruit peel, and vanilla. This is followed by a slight reduction.

Palate

On the palate, the wine appears fresh and juicy with lively acidity and citrus notes. The white-fleshed fruits then become increasingly present, and a subtle oak note emerges. The acidity and citrus remain pleasantly present. A beautiful Bourgogne Blanc!

The 2022 Bourgogne Blanc is a blend of unclassified vines at the top of the hill in Saint Romaine and some purchased fruit from Pouilly-Fuissé. The light nose needs a little more fruité, a bit more presence. The palate is better with more substance than the nose augurs, a little oily in texture, just missing a slight acidity on the finish.
