Colour

The wine presents itself in a light ruby red with a garnet-red rim and a violet core, clear and brilliant in the glass.

Nose

A practically tangy warmth and, in the form of heart cherry, a soothing sense of security form the essence of this Zweigelt. True to the variety, it is straightforward and clear. It freely and extensively displays its dark berry fruit. This ranges from the freshness of a sour cherry to the mischievous pepperiness of cranberries to the solidity of a Black Forest gateau. It stands for homey security and tells soothing stories from the various corners of Lake Neusiedl. At the same time, it is a thoroughly honest documentation of its origins and of the year 2017, which gave the grapes the exorbitant finesse of a brilliant cut on their journey to discovering their destiny.

Palate

On the palate of Gernot and Heike Heinrich’s 2017 Zweigelt, too, all varieties of fruit, from sour cherry to sweet cherry, are expressed in a circular dance, while delicate yet grippy tannins endow the wine with grounding depth. Despite all its finesse and seemingly cool elegance, however, the attribute that truly wins the heart of this Zweigelt is and remains one: juicy. In keeping with the 2017 vintage, it presents itself as full-bodied and amiably ripe with grippy yet delicate tannins and a bit more fat on the ribs. To allow its fruity dance to take its course, it is best served at 15-16°C.
