Colour

The wine presents itself in a dark purple with a ruby-red rim and an opaque core, clear and brilliant in the glass.

Nose

Still delightful. Initially somewhat reserved, this marriage of 55% Zweigelt and 45% Blaufränkisch demands consideration, air, patience, and a large glass to reveal its true essence. Not an exuberantly opulent one, but precisely defined red berry fruit, presenting itself benevolently in the form of a Black Forest gateau with all its inviting attributes and charms. Open-hearted, yet blunt; yet floral and driven by dark fruit, the Pannobile has a lot of love to give. The colourful parade of fruit and the variety of aromas resulting from the 2016 vintage fill the glass like a balloon.

Palate

Somewhere at the lavish party, there’s always a small, hidden, dimmed nook to secretly cuddle after a shared standing blues. … On the palate, the concentrated load of crisp, fresh fruit reveals itself in layers and with a tense length in a delicately woven tannin garment, worn like a summer wrap dress. Meanwhile, the velvety softness of its fundamental character is energized by a spine-providing acidity and a delicate and stimulating bitterness. A balanced yet determined character that, full of straightforward honesty, stands for pure joy in harmony with itself. Drinks excellently today, but for those with patience, it’s best from 2022 onwards.
