Information about the wine

The naked white is a cuvée of 48% Weissburgunder, 40% Chardonnay, 7% Grüner Veltliner, and 5% Welschriesling. The grapes come from both sides of Lake Neusiedl. To the west, from the slopes of the Leithagebirge, which are characterized by limestone and slate. To the east, from the gravelly Parndorfer Platte with humus-rich heath soil. The grapes were harvested by hand in early September, some pressed directly and some after a few hours of standing. After fermentation and malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged on the full lees in large wooden barrels and bottled unfiltered and without the addition of sulfur.

Slightly cloudy straw yellow

Nose

The naked white initially appears impetuous and still reductive with a slight flint. Only with air or a longer bottle opening does it open up, appearing creamy and slightly lactic, and less grassy and hoppy than before. The 2023 vintage is a rather charming example in terms of aroma.

Palate

On the palate, the fully fermented wine is dry, grippy, slightly salty, and juicy, with exactly the kind of creaminess you’d expect from the aromas on the nose. Here, you get the feeling of cream and a thin shortcrust pastry blending with a light crunch, some ripe lemon, alpine meadow hay, and a hint of pear. The wine is lively, sensual, silky, and utterly charming.
