Product description for Foradori Morei Teroldego Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2016 (bio)
Information
Teroldego Rotaliano from the Morei vineyard (Trentino dialect for dark) in Campo Rotaliano, Mezzolombardo. 2.5 hectares on stony alluvial soil. Aged for eight months in Spanish cellar amphorae, so-called tinajas.
Colour
dark violet
Nose
From the brothers Morei and Sgarzon, the Morei is always the darker and darker-fruited wine, as the name suggests. Elderberry can be found here on the juicy, fresh nose, along with sour cherries and just-ripened blackberries, a touch of cassis, dates, and a hint of damp clay.
Palate
On the palate, the wine displays the incomparable tension and sandpapery tannins of red wine from amphorae. The wine is juicy, cool, and distinctly lively and mineral, with a good palate. The slightly acidic yet ripe dark fruit notes conceal a sweet core. The wine is still very young and will benefit from some time in the decanter to open up.

Wine Advocate
Score: 92
Compared to fruit from the Sgarzon vineyard, the 2016 Teroldego Morei is a bit more open and accessible. Perhaps this wine takes longer to open, but once it unfolds in the glass it offers immediate brightness and aromatic clarity. This wine pours forth with naked Teroldego fruit aromas of black cherry, currant and dried plum. Like the other wines in this series, it sees extended skin contact during fermentation in clay amphorae. The finish offers grilled herb, tilled earth and a spicy touch of white pepper. Some 12,000 bottles were made.

Deep purple-ruby; this is deeper in color than the 2016 Sgarzon. Then darker in its aroma and flavor profile too, with creamier, richer red and black fruit flavors than the Sgarzon. Finishes smooth and tactile, with still youthfully chewy tannins and a brooding quality. Needs to be cellared for three to four years to show what it has to offer, but this is a very promising macerated red.
