Wine Information

This wine comes from the Grand Cru Le Clos. The Bouchards own 0.67 hectares there, planted by their grandfather in 1967. The plot is located in the lower part of the hill, the historic heart of the Climat. After hand-picking and slow whole-bunch pressing, the wine was spontaneously fermented and aged in used tonneaux. This was followed by coarse filtration and light sulfurization.

Nose

The 2022 Les Clos still appears quite shy on the nose, which is typical of this site. This Grand Cru always needs a lot of time. Even after hours in the carafe, it presents itself with only a subtle smokiness, citrus zest, white flowers, and a slightly exotic nose of some melon, ripe pineapple, and a hint of mango.

Palate

On the palate, the wine appears more open and inviting. Above all, it presents itself with a charm that’s hard to resist. The texture is silky and creamy, almost creamy. Then it becomes increasingly tart and piquant, citrusy and challenging. This Grand Cru slowly lives up to its name, gaining depth, playing with a touch of tannin, becoming saltier, more energetic, but still retaining its charm. It needs a few more years, then it will become even more complex.
