Product description for Coreografia Pas de deux 2019
Wine Information
Garnacha Negra, Garnacha Peluda, and Cariñena from 50- to 60-year-old vines. They are located in a friend’s vineyard at an altitude of 700 meters in the municipality of Cornudella del Montsant, which is currently being certified for biodynamic cultivation. Cornudella is the northernmost village in Montsant; there are very few vineyards there, and the altitude also contributes to the cool climate. The ripening cycle here is very slow. The soils are light red with a lot of gypsum. The second vintage of this wine was fermented with indigenous yeasts, half in amphorae and the rest in stainless steel. It aged in these containers for six months before being bottled in May 2020.
Colour
Slightly transparent garnet red
Nose
The cuvée opens with a cool and fresh expression of red berries, supported by notes of crushed lime and herbs. The blend of red currants, barberries, and raspberries is accompanied by violets, a hint of licorice, and pink pepper.
Palate
On the palate, the name of the wine is quite understandable. It dances on the tongue with an electrifying acidity and a mineral tension that makes you twitch. Aromatically, the Pas de Deux is similar to a Vintage Port, only without the sweetness and heaviness. But the ripe fruit and spice cake are present. However, it is a structurally light, ethereal wine that pushes forward, offers tart notes and firm tannins, and remains stony and cool until the finish.

A new red blend of 50% Garnacha with 50% Cariñena, the 2019 Pas de Deux Coreografia was inspired by the love of winemaker Tatjana Peceric for dance. The grapes were sourced from 50- to 60-year-old vines at 700 meters in altitude in the village of Cornudella del Montsant that are in the process of being certified in biodynamic farming. Half of he volume fermented in amphorae and the rest in stainless steel, always with indigenous yeasts, and it matured in those vessels for six moths before it was bottled. The wine is surprisingly fresher than 2018. Cornudella and Siurana are the coolest villages of Montsant. There are very few vineyards in Cornudella, which is the northernmost village of Montsant, quite different from La Figuera, and the altitude also contributes an extra dimension, adding to bright acid red berries and with an electric sensation on the palate. The ripening cycle is very slow here, and the soils are a light red with lots of gypsum, which also seems to add a chalky feeling in the texture. This is clean, elegant, aromatic and expressive. 2,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2020.
