Wine Information

The Clos de la Cure comes from a very clayey, north-facing 0.4-hectare plot with white limestone in the subsoil. After a late harvest and a whole-bunch pressing, the Chenin Blanc was spontaneously fermented, underwent malolactic fermentation, and aged on the lees for eleven months in a 1,000-liter earthenware vessel.

Nose

From year to year, the Bonnaventure family’s Chenins become more elegant and refined. Instead of lush fruit, one finds a subtle yet penetrating aroma reminiscent of just-ripened pears and apples, as well as apple and pear skins. Added to this are hints of lemon peel, some blond tobacco, and a distinct note of rock and herbs, rounded off with a touch of pear cream.

Palate

This Clos de la Cure is a timeless Chenin Blanc that combines ripeness and creaminess with tactile acidity and a pleasant spiciness. Clos de la Cure is always the winery’s fullest-bodied white wine, exuding a comforting warmth, further enhanced by spicy notes. At the same time, a fine acidity and subtle minerality can be found in this balanced Chenin Blanc, which can certainly be paired with a rich, creamy meal.

Crafted from vines planted on deep clay soils facing north with a calcareous bedrock, the 2022 Clos de la Cure reveals a delicate, pure bouquet of lemon, grapefruit, white fruits and spices. Medium to full-bodied, round and sappy with a fleshy core of fruit, it’s perfectly balanced with gastronomic bitterness and a long, mineral finish. This is a pure, elegant Chenin Blanc.
