Wine Information
The Grand Cru “Les Bressandes” vineyard lies exactly in the middle of the Corton hill below the Clos du Roi and Les Renardes. Together with the Clos du Roi, it is considered the best Grand Cru vineyard on the Corton hill. The 1.12 hectares are divided into four plots, and the soil is characterized by Bajocian and Oxford limestone with pebbles, clay, and a high iron content. The Corton-Bressandes comes from vines that are on average 35 years old. The grapes were picked between September 1st and 12th and meticulously sorted. The wine was fermented with 40 to 50% whole bunches.
Colour
Transparent garnet red
Nose
The 2017 vintage of Corton-Bressandes displays impressive ripeness and juiciness on the nose. The wine is currently dominated by dark wild berry fruit, blended with warm, freshly pressed raspberries and wild strawberries. In the background, there are hints of cinnamon and vanilla, some tree bark and juniper, as well as a slightly lactic note and a hint of yeast in this still completely youthful and fruit-forward Pinot.
Palate
The ripe, dark, and slightly warm berry fruit also appears on the palate, blending with notes of vanilla cream and fine oak. The Corton’s power, structure, and minerality are bubbling away in the background, but currently play a supporting role. The tannin is ripe and formative, and the acidity is precisely designed to penetrate and channel the full fruit. For fruit drinkers, this is a wonderful moment right now—otherwise, put it aside and enjoy it a few years later.

Wine Advocate
Score: (92-94)
The 2017 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru is lovely, wafting from the glass with notes of dark fruits, nori, licorice, rich soil, blood orange, rose hip and dark chocolate. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and satiny, its fine-grained tannins largely concealed in a gourmand core of succulent fruit, concluding with a saline, mineral finish. Long on complexity and character, this is a terrific Corton Bressandes.

Score: (90-92)
The 2017 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru was due to be bottled at the beginning of spring. It has a more complex bouquet than the Les Maréchaudes, offering blackberry, raspberry, crushed stone/flint and light vervain tea scents. The palate is smooth and supple on the entry, with a fine bead of acidity. There is good volume and depth here, although some of the Premier Crus perhaps have a little more complexity and tension on the finish. This is still a fine Corton, however, and it should give 15 years of pleasure, probably more.
