Wine Information

For this wine from the Négoce Petit Aigle series, Boris Champy used Chardonnay and Aligoté from his own young vines. These are all high-altitude vineyards with limestone, pebbles, and clay, facing east/south. Boris Champy pressed the whole grapes directly after hand-picking and fermented them spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. 65% of the grapes were aged in oval-shaped concrete tanks, and 35% in wooden barrels for 10 and 11 months, respectively, with regular stirring of the lees and the lees.

Nose

Boris Champy’s Coteaux Bourguignons Blanc 2023 is a spicy and herbal Burgundy that is a delight to the nose. A touch of wood, spice, and yeast mingle with peach, mandarin orange, tarte tatin, and lemon seeds. This is rounded off with almond and rock, thyme, and a touch of verbena.

Palate

On the palate, the blend of Chardonnay and Aligoté is lively and fresh, fleshy, and juicy. It coats the palate and, thanks to the yeast’s stirring, becomes full-bodied without being overpowering or fattening. Rather, the fruit and texture are permeated by a pleasantly linear acidity and a light salinity.
