Since 1996, the winery has been run by Steffen Christmann, the 7th generation. In 2004, the Christmanns definitively committed to biodynamic cultivation. The goal is to produce wines that reflect the vineyard, taste like it, and could not be produced anywhere else in the world. The harmony of vine, vineyard, and winemaker produces magnificent wines of great individuality. The ideal conditions in the Palatinate’s traditional Mittelhaardt region—warm enough for full-bodied wines and cool enough for elegance and a fine minerality—form the foundation. The Erste Lagen Idig, Mandelgarten, and Reiterpfad vineyards, in particular, produce Grand Crus that are consistently ranked among Germany’s finest.
