Colour

Bright ruby red with light reflections and slight cloudiness.

Nose

2023 Matassa rouge definitely needs time and plenty of air. It presents itself cool and enormously reductive. It is reminiscent of the cool scent of the forest in the morning. Earthy and ethereal aromas dominate. Damp forest floor, moss, undergrowth, and the needles of fir and spruce. Cold smoke mingles with this. Currently, only red currants can be teased out of the fruit, which is not meant to be a judgment. Fresh mushrooms and ground pepper round it out.

Palate

On the palate, the fruit is more noticeable and present. Cranberries and red currants are found alongside rose hips. This wine makes your mouth water. It benefits from high drinking animation and a slim body. Its acidity is present, straightforward, and stimulating. Everything else clings to it in a stimulating way. A slight bitterness emerges on the finish. Fine tannins coat the teeth. Sage and juniper characterize the aftertaste.
