Product description for Foradori Morei Teroldego Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2020 (bio)
The Campo Rotaliano is a distinct geographical area, nestled between the mountains like an indentation of the Adige Valley. Its origins are inextricably linked to the Noce River, which has carried limestone, granite, and porphyry debris for centuries. Within the Campo Rotaliano, various microzones can be distinguished by their soil composition, each given a different name by the winemakers. The Vigneto Morei is 2.5 hectares in size, planted 100% with Teroldego Rotaliano, and situated on the gravelly and sandy alluvial soils of the Noce River. The name Morei comes from the Trentino dialect and means “moro” or “dark,” referring to the deep colour nuances of this wine. The grapes were fermented in amphorae (tinajas from Villarrobledo, Spain) and clarified over eight months of aging on the skins. Production averages 12,000 bottles.
Colour
Purple red with a black core and violet reflections.
Nose
Mallows and mulberries, violets and blueberries, as well as a bar of dark chocolate outline the nose of Elisabetta Foradori’s 2020 Morei. Dark fruity and powerful, the Morei is always the stronger of the two single-vineyard Teroldegos and presents itself accordingly expansively on the nose with the typical floral top note.
Palate
With generous fruit and an open-hearted nature, it presents itself juicy and extremely approachable on the palate, even if it would benefit from a few years of bottle aging. The dark fruit is framed by grippy tannins that are tightly woven and dense on the palate, like the finest sandpaper. The ripe acidity gives it its rapid drinking speed, notes of dark chocolate adorn the fruity, long finish.

The 2020 Teroldego Morei is dark and inward, slowly blossoming in the glass with black cherries, balsam herbs, hints of cinnamon and clove. This is round in feel, yet with a reverberation of zesty acidity and inner spice. Depths of dark red fruits and minerals settle upon the senses, along with a coating of sweet tannin. Wow, the result is quite stunning, with a chiseled and almost-teeth-chattering feel through the finale. The 2020 is a very exciting vintage for Morei; a boost of warm vintage fruit adds depth to its usually-inward and structured persona. Enjoy a bottle now, but lose the rest for a few years in the cellar.
