The 2017 Grüner Veltliner Riede Braunsdorfer “Fuchs und Dachs” exudes pure juiciness from the glass: ripe pear, ripe apple, white blossoms. And despite all its presence, it appears incredibly delicate, dancing, almost floating.

Palate

The delicate and dancing appearance is confirmed by the palate; the multifaceted structure and precise acidity glide beautifully across the tongue. Powerful and animating, a truly inspiring wine that captivates and inspires with finesse and lightness; even the dishes it accompanies.

Lang’s 2017 Riede Steiner Braunsdorfer Grüner Veltliner Fuchs und Dachs is clear, deep and complex on the subtle and pretty unique, herbal nose that is still slightly oaky but remarkably noble and elegant, with fascinating notes of milled chalk and quartz. Pure and intense on the palate, this is a complex and charmingly juicy and refined wine that is more dominated by terroir characteristics than so-called typical Veltliner flavors. The finish is dense and intense but very elegant and refined. An impressive firstling from a unique place in one of the finest vineyards in Krems. Loess can hardly give better wines. This one is fascinating, precise, pure and intense, with very delicate tannins from the new barrel here. Tasted in March 2020.
