Colour

The wine presents itself in the glass in dark purple with a violet rim and an opaque core, clear and brilliant.

Nose

Priorat as it lives and breathes: a proud, powerful hand crisscrossed by deep furrows and marked by the signs of time, yet full of warm-hearted security. Dark berry richness of stewed plums, stewed elderberries, and blueberries enter the glass. Umeboshi apricots and sweet cherry, as well as the spice of pipe tobacco, cinnamon stick, tarragon, and black pepper round out and expand the palate. Also dark chocolate in the classic and harmonious motto: rum – grape – nut.

Palate

Strong and powerful, yet warm and sensitive, the 2017 Mas del Metge Tros de Clos from Portal del Priorat reveals a truly sublime, majestic side. A powerful, rich attack spreads across the palate, layered with full-bodied, grainy tannins. With moderate acidity, this Carignan displays fervent steadfastness and convincingly showcases the local flavour of its origins.
