This monumental Grüner Veltliner shows depth – and what depth! Alongside young mango, mirabelle plum, and ripe pear, we find white blossoms, wild raspberries, and red currants. Distinct earthy notes, the typical peppery character, and noble light tobacco wonderfully underscore its distinctiveness and profundity.

Palate

An attack on the palate: The 2016 Grüner Veltliner Riede Steiner Schreck practically doesn’t mince words. Juicy fruit, a stimulating acidity, immense saltiness, and a fine phenolic character define its appearance. A perfect food accompaniment with a pleasingly low alcohol content of 12% vol. An exceptional drop that will be remembered, we promise!

Pressed with his own basket press and vinified on its gross lees for two years before bottling in summer 2019, Markus Lang’s 2016 Riede Steiner Schreck Grüner Veltliner Dritter Akt opens with a coolish, fresh and bright bouquet with remarkable precision and refreshing fruit. Pure, fresh and salty on the palate, this is a fascinating, energetic, complex, fine and grippy wine with white fruit, lemon flavors and lingering salinity. Bottled without filtration, zero grams of residual sugar and moderate 12% alcohol in June 2019. Only 770 bottles were made. Tasted in Weissenkirchen/Wachau in September 2019.
