Information about the Wine

The Valdemonjas winery is located in the so-called Golden Mile of Ribera del Duero, where the concentration of renowned producers is particularly high. The winery fits seamlessly into the ranks of the area’s top wineries, although the Valdemonjas style differs from the well-known Ribera del Duero: The wines are more direct and unvarnished, with less oak and more freshness. This is evident in the red wine El Primer Beso 2023, which is fermented in steel tanks and then aged for six months in concrete tanks. This single-varietal Tempranillo comes from organic cultivation in various vineyards at an altitude of 740 to 780 meters with calcareous soils. To emphasize freshness, the winery harvests the grapes somewhat earlier, which also explains the moderate alcohol content of 13.5% for Ribera del Duero.

It is aromatic and delicately spicy, and the fine-grained tannins develop a nice grip in the mouth. The wine has lively acidity and tension; there is no over-extending or jammy aroma. Added to this is a clear and pure fruit expression, underpinned by minerality, with a medium body, making this red wine a pleasure to drink.
