Product description for Vacheron Sancerre blanc “Les Romains” AOC 2023 (bio)
The Les Romains vineyard is Domaine Vacheron’s most classic site, planted with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. It lies on the eastern flank of Sancerre and is dominated by flint. The wine is fermented and aged for ten months in a mixture of Stockinger foudres and barriques.
Colour
Medium straw yellow with a slight green tinge
Nose
This single-vineyard Sancerre has a subtle aroma of grass and hay, green stone fruit, gooseberries including their stalks, and green elderberries. There are also hints of boxwood, apple, and lime zest. The wine appears fresh and still somewhat shy.
Palate
On the palate, Les Romains is light and airy, with lively acidity and minerality, a slight silkiness, plenty of juicy green fruit, and notes of garden herbs and crushed rock. The Sauvignon Blanc has a pleasantly fine creaminess and becomes grippy and slightly smoky towards the finish.
