Information about the wine

This white wine is a blend of the Garnacha Blanca, Macabeo, and Viognier grape varieties. The first two are native grapes of the Priorat, a growing region known for its steep slopes and slate soils. The combination of a hot, dry climate and barren soils leads to extremely low yields of just under one kilogram of grapes per vine. The wine was matured in steel tanks and left on the fine lees for four months. The result is Llum d’Alba, an excellent example of a Mediterranean-influenced white wine that also expresses the typical characteristics of its grape varieties.

Gray-yellow to light yellow

Nose

Llum d’Alba has a fresh and interesting nose, featuring ripe stone fruit such as apple and quince, white blossoms, and aromas of dried herbs. Also typical of wines from Priorat are the earthy minerality and quite high intensity. This is by no means a lightweight in the glass.

Palate

The wine certainly offers a feeling of opulence, stemming from ripe fruit, soft acidity, a higher, well-integrated alcohol content, and a waxy texture that envelops the palate. This wine thus beautifully expresses its Mediterranean origins. The full body also possesses tension and grip (a touch of tannin), so it doesn’t become overly broad. Llum d’Alba also has an earthy-mineral character and a spicy, slightly bitter finish with good length. A bit of air is good for this wine, as it can seem a bit rustic immediately after uncorking.
