Nose

The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Ostrea is a firm favorite at Trapet year after year. A prime example of contemporary Pinot Noir. It is generous and approachable. At the same time, it exhibits so much depth that you have to pause for a moment. Its fruit is subtle yet very present. Wild raspberries from the forest and sour cherries are racy and almost weightlessly stimulating. Abundant herbs contribute, which greatly contributes to the high fun factor of the nose. Parsley, rosemary, and chervil deliver one fresh attack after another. It experiences subtle spice in the form of black pepper and juniper. Behind this, still shy, lies its earthy side. Wet limestone and cold smoke are reserved only for the patient, searching tasters. Time or air can help with this.

Palate

It immediately grabs hold of the palate and captivates you. Its intense fruit competes with its structured acidity. These two facets attract each other magnetically for minutes. With its high elegance, it thrives on its silky, clear, and mineral appearance. Origin, style, and vintage are all very well presented here. Its spiciness also comes from the earthy facet of this wine, which radiates outward in the glass with depth and length. Perfectly balanced, all the elements come together to form a whole that knows how to inspire. Taut and lengthy, it takes its time on the finish and delights again and again – always in a different way. Full of complexity, it drinks enormously well even at its young age. Its potential is far from exhausted. With its generosity, it carves out its own monument.
