Product description for Terroir al Limit Les Manyes 2022
At an altitude of 800 meters, above a monastery in Scala Dei, the rare Garnacha Peluda grows in calcareous clay soil with a west-facing orientation. The 60-year-old vines are adapted to the dry climate: their fine down on the underside of the leaves helps retain moisture. The result is an expressive wine with impressive freshness and structure. Dark cherries, smoky and mineral notes, and herbal spice characterize the profile, accompanied by a subtle bitterness that adds depth and elegance. Hand-harvested, whole-bunch fermented, and aged in cement.
Colour
Transparent ruby red.
Nose
The 2022 Les Manyes from Terroir al Limit is bursting with black cherries, dark berries, and plum and plum jam. The joyful cascades of fruit are ethereally complemented by mild spicy notes of cloves, black pepper, toffee, and a touch of smoke in the top note. Despite its supposed accessibility at a young age, the large, expensive glasses and the crystal carafe are recommended.
Palate
On the palate, Les Manyes is profound and fine, filigree and powerful, concentrated and transparent. Defined like Rudolf Nureyev – powerful but not brutal, agile and dynamic with great precision and the utmost discipline. It is not a loud wine; it does not chatter, but speaks with a firm voice – every word ready for print, without filler, clear, defined, and precise. The fresh fruit is in perfect balance with the tightly laced tannin corset, delicate and tightly woven, tartly contoured with a fruity-tart finish.

The 2022 Les Manyes is a pure Garnacha Peluda from vines that were planted 60 years ago, from a high-altitude vineyard at 800 meters above sea level on limestone soils in the Montsant mountain. It fermented with full clusters and indigenous yeasts for seven to eight days. The wine matured in concrete for eight months. It’s delicate, pale, ethereal, elegant, floral and perfumed, quite primary with purity of flavors. It has certain lightness, subtle flavors and a dry finish. 3,008 bottles were filled in May 2023.
