Christoph Raffelt: On the palate, the Trockenbeerenauslese “Essenz” is a relaxed, round, creamy, and full-bodied wine, whose 150 grams of sugar are skillfully counteracted by the almost ten grams of acidity. This is enjoyable even at a very young age; for the Trockenbeerenauslese is rich in finesse and minerality, salty and lively – especially when served slightly chilled. It still has a long future ahead of it.

Wine Information

The 2017 Trockenbeerenauslese comes from the Zieregg vineyard, which is made from coral limestone with a brown earth layer. The Sauvignon Blanc was aged in stainless steel.

Colour

Light to medium golden yellow

Nose

Initially characterized by a slight acidity, this quickly dissipates. Then the Sauvignon Blanc “Essenz” offers a whole basketful of apricots, apricots, oranges, and orange peel with a squeeze of lemon and a touch of lemon pepper.

Palate
