About the wine
The “Argilité” cuvée is a blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Meunier from the Notre Dame vineyard in Celles-les-Condé in the Marne Valley with Calcaires du Lutétien, i.e. limestone from the Paris Basin, mixed with clay. The vineyard has a slope of 20%. The harvest took place on September 16, 2015. The pressed base wine fermented spontaneously in Georgian amphora, where the wine was also aged until bottling on July 24, 2016. Dégorgement took place in July 2021. The dosage is zero grams.
Colour
Light golden yellow; fine, very clear mousse.
Nose
The “Argilité” 2015 initially exudes a scent of damp stone. Petrichor is the key word here. Then green and yellow citrus fruit with crushed stone, herbs, and a hint of smoke emerge. As the air increases, notes of hemp, chamomile, and apple and orange peel emerge.
Palate
On the palate, the charming ripe fruit of the Meunier reveals itself in combination with the citrus notes, the special tension, and the grip that the aging in amphora has given the champagne. The texture is certainly the most striking feature of this champagne, which displays good depth and length, finally finishing with a creamy citrus note and mineral tension.
