Color

Rich straw yellow with brilliant reflections.

Nose

Flat peaches, ripe cantaloupe, and wet pebbles outline the initial nose of the 2022 Memari Chardonnay from Scarbolo. With increasing aeration, notes of light tobacco, white pepper, a hint of acacia, beeswax, yellow oat plum, and salty popcorn emerge. Its nature oscillates between expansive ripeness and extremely disciplined presentation.

Palate

On the palate, it is focused and almost taut, with a vertical nature and fine-grained phenolics. The aromas reflect the nose: only the melon peel remains, the peach pit, and the tobacco with its stimulatingly bitter aftertaste. The acidity is ripe and operates discreetly in the background, orchestrating the dance like a good prompter. Medium-bodied with rich extract and subtle fruit in the long finish.

The 2022 Chardonnay Memari opens with a lovely mix of young peach, sweet spice, dusty dried flowers and hints of ground ginger. It’s soothingly round with a saline core of minerality and crisp orchard fruits flowing under almond custard air. Candied citrus combines with chamomile and mint as the 2022 finishes long and wound youthfully tight. This beautifully refined Chardonnay is relatively young today yet full of potential.
